Astrophotography Workshop at Mammoth Cave National Park
July 18 @ 7:00 PM
Come take photos of the Milky Way because your camera roll deserves more than 4,000 blurry pictures of your dog.
Join us on Saturday, July 18 at 7 p.m. at the Mammoth Cave Amphitheater for a free Astrophotography Workshop in Kentucky’s only International Dark-Sky Park.
Photography experts will cover the basics of camera and smartphone settings, composition tips, focusing in the dark, and even how to clean up images using special software.
Afterward, we’ll head to the visitor center bus loop to put your skills into action by capturing two summer sky showstoppers: The Milky Way Core (ooooo!) and the star-filled region around Sadr in the constellation Cygnus (ahhhh!).
Bring a smartphone with night mode or DSLR/mirrorless camera, a tripod, and whatever snacks or chairs will keep you happy.
We also recommend you pack a wide-angle lens, a remote shutter release or intervalometer, a red flashlight, and an appreciation for tiny lights very far away.
This event is free and open to everyone, and no prior experience is needed. We hope to see you under the stars!
