Nature Watch Weekend: Sandhill Crane Migration

Experience the Majestic Sandhill Cranes at Barren River Lake State Resort Park!

Join a special nature watch weekend as thousands of migratory Sandhill Cranes visit the park during their winter season. Witness these magnificent birds roosting on the mudflats and feeding in nearby farmlands.

Van tours are available at sunset and sunrise on Saturday and at sunrise on Sunday. Educational sessions will be held Friday evening at the Louie B. Nunn Lodge, with additional activities throughout the weekend.

Registration Details:

• Pre-registration is required; call the park to secure your spot.
• Tours include your choice of time, an educational session, a t-shirt, and a snack.
• Register by December 20, 2024, to guarantee your preferred shirt size. Registrations after this date will receive available sizes.
