Historic Downtown Glasgow

Welcome to beautiful downtown Glasgow, Kentucky, the heart of Barren County! Fair warning: Southern hospitality hits pretty fast around here. It won’t take long before someone will hold the door, ask from where you’re visiting, or chat as you pass each other on the sidewalk.

Over the past decade, downtown Glasgow has experienced a vibrant renaissance. Historic buildings have been thoughtfully restored and filled with locally owned coffee shops, boutiques, eateries, and gathering places, creating a downtown that is as alive as it is walkable. And around here, supporting local isn’t just a trendy thing to say. It’s part of who we are. Spend a little time chatting with shop owners, baristas, and neighbors, and you’ll quickly understand why.

As you explore our square, you’ll discover colorful murals, the stately courthouse at its center, and the beautifully restored Plaza Theatre anchoring it all together. When we say we’re a small town, we really do mean it. Don’t be surprised if you spot the mayor walking by, end up in a deep conversation with a local, or stumble upon a film crew (yes, Hallmark, BET+, and more have filmed right here in town).

So, grab a cup of coffee, take your time meandering the streets, and discover the people, stories, and small-town charm that make our slice of Kentucky so memorable. We already know that you’ll leave with a favorite shop, a couple of new pals, and every intention of coming back.

  • The Veterans’ Wall of Honor

This unique monument honors all citizens, living and deceased, of Glasgow and Barren County who served this country in the Armed Forces. The Wall, located in the Beulah C. Nunn Park on the west corner of the South Public Square in Glasgow, provides a powerful reminder of Barren County’s rich military history. The park provides a quiet place to reflect on the men and women who fought for our country and the honor and courage they exemplified. Applications for adding a name to the Wall of Honor are available at Glasgow City Hall or the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce.
